American Flyer (1985) is a classic. The flick is about two brothers into cycling competition. Both challenges the road and life itself. The movie stars Kevin Costner and David Marshall Grant. The race is full of suspense and drama, you almost get to pee in your pants. Not really.I joined marathon once in high school which explains why I’m hooked into this movie. But what appeals me more is… awww sheet that english, sakit sa ilong.… ibig kong sabihin mas nakaka-relate ako dahil ang bida (David) ay hindi niya mapagwari kung anong kurso ang nais nyang kunin sa kolehiyo. There’s a scene when the brother Kevin Costner (Marcus) walks into the room while David Grant (David) is watching a kung fu movie. Kevin asks what he’s brother has been up to in his studies. David answers that he’s halfway through his masters in bang bang and half way in his degree in Yin Yang (obviously referring to what he’s into – cowboy and kung fu movies) . Bummer.
We all go through at some point bumming around in college. Shifting and drifting from one course to another. I had been from Computer Engineering (those madapacking sheet classmates of mine in that department are packing sheet mutants in doing mental calculations in Calculus and Discrete Math, while all I’ve done during recitations were mental blocks. Sori po sir Pichay, nagsa-shut off utak ko pag numbers) to Information Technology and then Bachelor of Laws and Letters. I wanted to add more to my failed courses like Political Science but my Dean Delilah Valencia swears she just want me to graduate college and be out of the school for god’s sake. Utang na loob, gumradweyt ka na. So that pretty sums up my college life (so, I digress) and American Flyer as well..
